Commercial Contracts Solicitor

£42,000 - £55,000

Panoramic Associates are working with a council in the Northern Home Counties, who are looking to recruit a Contracts and Procurement Solicitor to join their established legal team.

The successful candidate will provide practical and solution-focused legal advice to Members, Officers, and collaborative partners, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and the Councils' constitution.

This role is offered on a very flexible basis with the majority of working being able to be remote with occasional office attendance for team building. The organisation also offers great permanent benefits to employees including employer pension contribution of 19% and excellent flexible working policies including working hours and time off in-lieu policy allowing additional days annual leave.

The salary on offer ranges between £42,000 - 55,000 per annum dependent upon experience and for those with a strong background working within local government an additional car allowance of up to £3,000 is also on offer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise Members and Officers on legal matters to ensure compliance with the law.
  • Contribute to the effective delivery of a value-for-money legal service.
  • Fulfil additional duties as assigned by senior management.
  • Handle a full range of contracts and procurement matters, including grants, government funding schemes, IT contracts, and framework agreements.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for client departments on public procurement advice.
  • Provide additional support to the Housing team on accommodation, homelessness transition, and complex care issues.
  • Advise on Construction contracts, predominantly JCTs, with occasional NECs.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3-5 years PQE
  • Preference for a past background working within the public sector or local government.
  • Previous experience advising a District Council is preferred.
  • Familiarity with The Procurement Regulations 2024 is preferred
