Trainee Positive Behaviour Mentor - School in Winchester

Are you passionate about supporting children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working with vulnerable learners and are eager to take your next step in the education sector? If so, this role could be a great fit for you!

We are currently seeking a Trainee Positive Behaviour Mentor to join an established school in Winchester. The school is a vibrant and supportive environment where staff are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of their students. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in education, with full support and training provided.

About the Role:
As a Trainee Positive Behaviour Mentor, you will be supporting students across the school who have a range of SEN, providing 1:1 and small group interventions to promote positive behaviour and support their learning. You will be working closely with the Inclusion and Learning Support teams to deliver tailored support to students, helping them engage with lessons and maintain focus in class.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting students aged 11-16, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour.
  • Helping to de-escalate situations and calmly support students through difficult moments.
  • Assisting with behaviour management strategies and encouraging positive changes.
  • Providing feedback and regular updates to teachers, parents, and the wider support team.
  • Working alongside teachers to engage students in their learning, minimising classroom disruption.
  • Being part of a supportive team and taking part in ongoing professional development.

The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about working with vulnerable students. While you may not have direct experience in a school setting, experience working with children or adults with SEN or challenging behaviour will be essential. We will provide full support, guidance, and training to help you succeed in this role.

You will need to be:

  • Proactive, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing situations.
  • Patient and empathetic, with a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Able to form strong relationships with students, helping them to feel supported and understood.
  • Outgoing, with a positive and proactive approach to behaviour management.
  • Available to work full time between 8:30-3:30.
