Caretaker

We are looking for a positive and dedicated School Caretaker to join our Junior School in Barking. As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running and maintenance of the school premises, creating a safe and clean environment for both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake general maintenance tasks including plumbing, painting, and minor repairs
• Keep the school grounds tidy and free from litter
• Carry out regular health and safety checks to identify and address any potential hazards
• Monitor and maintain the security of the premises, including locking and unlocking the school buildings
• Set up and dismantle equipment for school events and activities
• Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as required
• Assist with the delivery and storage of supplies and equipment
• Respond promptly to any emergencies or urgent repairs

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar caretaker role is desirable but not essential
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Good communication skills to interact with staff, students, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Basic DIY skills and the ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks
• A proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines
• Valid Enhanced DBS Check issued in last 6 months or have the online update service (If you do not have a valid DBS we can process one for £40)
• Flexibility to work split shifts from 7am-9.30am and 2pm-6.30pm
• Competitive hourly rate of pay
