An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Assistant Accountant to join a prominent manufacturing business based in Plymouth. This role is perfect for a driven, finance professional eager to make an impact within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

About the Role: As an Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role within the finance team, focusing on treasury functions while also supporting wider financial accounting activities. You'll handle daily cash flow forecasting, VAT and statutory returns, and contribute to monthly and annual accounts. This role calls for a proactive, team-oriented individual with strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee treasury management and daily cash flow forecasting, working closely with the Sales and Purchase Ledger teams.
  • Conduct bank and key balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage VAT returns and statutory government filings with accuracy.
  • Support financial oversight for the subsidiary companies, ensuring proper processing of intercompany transactions.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts, budget monitoring, and the preparation of annual budgets and statutory accounts.
  • Provide essential administrative and ad-hoc support within the finance team.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: AAT qualified or part-qualified in CIMA or ACCA, with a background in manufacturing sector considered a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software packages with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Personal Attributes: A customer-focused team player who demonstrates resilience and adaptability. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to thrive under pressure.
