Are you an experience primary teacher, instructor or cover supervisor, with a real passion for making a difference to the lives of pupils who experience barriers to learning? Look no further! We have your next role right here!

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher, passionate about removing barriers to learning, on a temporary to permanent basis at a local school, who provide day placements for students aged 11-16 years who are working significantly lower than expected due to social, emotional and mental health barriers to learning. Many pupils struggle with anxiety and so, the school has been purpose built to provide a therapeutic offering for these pupils.

Your role would involve providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.

To fulfil your role as SEN Teacher:

  • You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to Teaching Assistants and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.
  • Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
  • Additionally, you will also be expected to carefully monitor the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils, informing care/medical/behavioural support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.

What we are ideally looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher status (QTLS or QTS), PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training is essential.
  • Experience of working in a special school environment and with pupils with additional needs/SEMH.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs.
