JOB TITLE: Could Security Engineer (AWS)

SALARY: £45,954 - £51,060

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Manchester, Halifax or Leeds  

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office location listed above.

About this opportunity

Our Cloud Enterprise Security department is looking for a motivated person to ensure that the appropriate security controls are in place, focusing on keeping bank services safe while simultaneously supporting programme timescales and business outcomes.

The role will have end-to-end accountabilities including the following:

  • The role will require you to be ‘hands-on,’ to collaborate with peers to ensure that security is incorporated into all aspects of our deliveries

  • The goal is to allow projects onboarded on our AWS Cloud Native Environment to safely go faster, and support them with a customer centric approach

  • Contributing to team and platform maturity with recommendations, ideas, and improvements

  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships, including well developed influencing and communication skills

  • Balancing the needs of the business and security with a risk-based approach to ensure that we are compliant from a policy and governance perspective

  • Accountability for writing and maintaining security controls within an AWS multi-account environment, with a focus on SaaS connectivity to third parties

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrable experience working with Amazon Web Services

  • Technical and practical real-world experience of information security is a desirable trait, even if no previous role was formally in security

  • Technical experience working with variety of technologies, with a focus on automation and ideally DevOps/DevSecOps e.g. Jenkins, GitHub, CI/CD, continuous Cloud compliance enforcement, guardrail & control definition, Terraform, AWS DevOps – the list is purely indicative

  • Roles in large enterprise/regulated industry

  • Experience of compliance/ assurance activity against bank policy and standards within a governance framework

  • Providing guidance and input for security designs being delivered by partners
