HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) - SEMH School - South London

Are you an experienced HLTA looking for a rewarding opportunity? Join a dynamic and supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) all-through school in South London, where you can help shape the futures of young learners.

HLTA - Position Overview:


We are seeking a skilled HLTA to join this specialist school on a full-time basis. In this role, you will support students with SEMH needs, assisting in the delivery of tailored learning programmes and leading small group or whole-class sessions as required.

HLTA - Key Details:

  • Location: South London
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience £100-£150 per day

HLTA - Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside teachers to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Provide targeted support to students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
  • Lead whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher, following pre-prepared plans.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and academic skills.
  • Collaborate with the wider staff team to meet the diverse needs of the students.

Who We're Looking For:


We welcome applications from experienced HLTAs &Cover supervisors, as well as individuals with relevant teaching or support experience who are eager to progress into a leadership support or unqualified teaching role.

HLTA - Essential Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent HLTA/Cover supervisor experience.
  • Previous experience working with students with SEN or SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).
  • A proactive, flexible, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
