An exciting communications opportunity has arisen within a hugely entrepreneurial London-based law firm who require an energetic and enthusiastic PR & Communications Manager to combine corporate communications with team and individual profile-raising PR activities.
The successful candidate will bring fresh ideas and a desire to work as part of a team to provide a highly effective communications function which is a valuable resource for the partners and the firm as a whole. The role will sit within the firm’s marketing team and will report into the Director of Marketing and Business Development and line manage a PR & Communications Executive. The individual will work closely with the firm’s Managing Partner, Senior Partner, the business development team, the Head of Brand and Marketing, the Head of Internal Communications and the wider partnership. Playing a crucial role in bolstering the firm’s profile in the market, you will proactively execute practice group profile raising initiatives with industry press, in line with group priorities, including positioning partners as experts on particular topics through pitching, news hijacking, campaigns and roundtables. Having built and nurtured relationships with press contacts in target media, you will respond to incoming enquiries and scour newspapers, online sources and social media to identify PR opportunities through hot topics, drafting and issuing press releases, articles and media briefing documents. The PR & Communications Manager will also be responsible for managing the reporting of PR activities to senior management, preparing partners for all media interviews, providing media training to key stakeholders. On the corporate communications side, you will draft and manage the external roll-out of key corporate communications such as partner hires and departures, financial results, surveys and other strategic firm announcements with the support of the firm’s PR agency. The successful applicant will also manage the firm’s awards programme and social media campaigns.
The ideal candidate will have strong PR and communications experience preferably gained in a professional services environment or a PR agency with professional services clients and will be able to demonstrate success in working with the UK media. A strong ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines combined with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including reputational management, media relations, copywriting and editing, will be essential. Team oriented, flexible and positive with a can-do approach, the PR & Communications Manager will possess excellent influencing skills and the ability to establish credibility quickly at senior levels and build and maintain relationships with journalists and other external audiences.
