What does a Communal Repairs Technical Officer do at Southwark Council?

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional repair and maintenance services that make a difference in the community? Southwark Council is looking for a skilled Communal Repairs Technical Officer to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and satisfaction of our communal repairs service.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a technical expert, inspecting, specifying, and managing communal repairs to ensure they meet the highest standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure service delivery aligns with contract requirements.
  • Lead on communal repairs for estate inspections, action days, and other events.
  • Manage health and safety compliance, conduct risk assessments, and address issues promptly.
  • Engage with residents, tenant associations, and key stakeholders to provide clear, customer-focused communication and support.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A strong understanding of building construction, maintenance contracts, and landlord/tenant matters.
  • HNC in Building Studies (or equivalent), or significant relevant experience.
  • Experience diagnosing building defects, creating repair specifications, and managing contractors.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a commitment to customer service.
  • A willingness to climb ladders/scaffolds as part of inspection duties and a valid driving license.
