Job Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Supply Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Slough. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about education, seeking to gain valuable classroom experience, and eager to contribute to the academic progress and well-being of students.
As a Supply Teacher, you will oversee lessons during staff absences, ensuring students remain engaged and on task while following pre-set lesson plans. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive, supportive learning environment in collaboration with teaching and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students during lessons, ensuring they stay focused and follow pre-planned lesson objectives.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Support students with their tasks and provide additional guidance as required.
- Ensure adherence to school policies, including safeguarding and behavioral standards.
- Supervise students during break times and lunchtimes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Provide constructive feedback to teaching staff on student progress, engagement, and behavior.
- Assist with setting up resources or materials needed for lessons.
- Liaise with school leadership to report any concerns or classroom issues promptly.
- Support occasional administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Organised, proactive, and flexible attitude.
- A passion for working with young people and helping them reach their potential.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices is desirable.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Relevant experience or qualifications in education (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or Youth Work) would be an advantage.
