Join the vibrant city of Sheffield in an exciting role as a Surveyor within the Housing & Neighbourhood Service. This position offers the opportunity to manage extensive housing projects, ensuring the delivery of safe and warm homes across the city. With a focus on excellent service, this role is pivotal in supporting the community’s growth and development.
Day-to-day of the role: - Conduct building surveys, condition assessments, and specialist surveys such as EPC’s, Asbestos, and HHSRS, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Administer contracts and oversee the operational delivery of domestic programmes of work.
- Implement and monitor on-site quality assurance, defect inspection, and handover procedures in accordance with Sheffield City Council policies.
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver services including contract administration, disrepair management, and handling permissions for home alterations.
- Perform joint inspections with Neighbourhood Officers, providing guidance on repairs and property improvements.
- Prepare and present both technical and non-technical reports and designs, making recommendations for remedial actions.
- Visit clients in their homes for general surveying and to assess improvement needs.
- Represent the Council in court cases, providing evidence and expert testimony.
- Engage in effective consultation and communication with tenants, contractors, elected members, and other stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Experience in property condition and dilapidation surveys with the ability to make informed recommendations.
- Strong customer care skills with the ability to interact effectively with contractors and residents.
- Excellent report writing skills, capable of diagnosing investment and repair requirements - training provided
- Ability to work as part of a team, stay organised, and remain calm under pressure.
- Must hold an appropriate trade qualification, such as City and Guilds with ONC in a related building construction/surveying subject, or equivalent knowledge based on strong practical experience.
