Lecturer - Mathematics - GCSE and Functional Skills

  • Location: West London
  • Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
  • Hours: 36 hours per week (or part-time hours), 52 weeks per year
  • Salary Grade: £32,455 to £45,260 per annum including London Weighting
  • Reporting to: Section Manager - Maths - GCSE and Functional Skills

Join our dedicated team, where we have placed Maths at the core of our students’ Study Programmes. As a Lecturer in Mathematics, you will be instrumental in teaching GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to students from various curriculum areas, helping them to succeed and progress to higher courses or into the workplace.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach Maths, both GCSE and Functional Skills, to students from a range of curriculum areas.
  • Participate in open evenings and recruitment activities to provide accurate information and guidance to potential students.
  • Contribute to the production and accuracy of informational materials and fact sheets.
  • Interview potential applicants and play a part in the college’s interviewing schedules.
  • Develop, promote, and deliver marketing and recruitment strategies for the team.
  • Conduct student inductions and contribute to the design of induction programmes.
  • Produce course handbooks and carry out academic progress reviews.
  • Liaise with Attendance Co-ordinators to ensure student attendance, retention, and achievement.
  • Prepare students for employability, career progression, and/or further education and training.
  • Produce reports and attend events to provide information to parents and employers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in teaching Maths at GCSE and/or Functional Skills level.
  • Ability to engage and enthuse students who are resitting their qualifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work proactively within a team and share best practices.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
