Portfolio / Client Accountant, offering a mix of Audit and Accounts, Weybridge.

Hybrid and flexible working options are available, including part-time.

An independent firm of Chartered Accountants is looking to recruit a Client Accountant for a newly created role in their Surrey office.

Due to recent client wins, this position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse and growing client base, including businesses in Surrey, London, and international firms. Known for its professional yet flexible and respectful working environment, the firm has its staff and their welfare at the heart of its business – and hence the turnover at the Qualified level is very low.

The Role of Client Accountant

Working closely with the senior management team, you will manage a very varied portfolio – both locally based clients as well as those based internationally with a UK subsidiary. So ideally you will have strong accounting skills and would like to add some audit work to your portfolio (up to 30%).

Key responsibilities include

  • Preparing statutory accounts and quarterly management accounts.
  • Conducting client audits, from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Handling ad hoc project work and assisting clients with their evolving needs.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns (bookkeeping managed by other team members).
  • Collaborating with the tax team, particularly on corporate and private tax returns.

About You

This role is ideal for a client-focused accountant with recent experience in accounts preparation, compliance, and a willingness to perform some audit work. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong foundation in FRS 102  with knowledge of UK GAAP; exposure to IFRS is a plus.
  • ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software, like Xero, and the ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Experience preparing year-end statutory accounts and managing a small client portfolio.
  • Prior experience in an accountancy practice, with audit familiarity is key for this role.

The Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary between £45,000 - £55,000 as set by Fletcher George, plus an attractive benefits package, including:

  • Hybrid working and flexible working hours
  • Car parking
  • Healthcare plan
  • Generous pension
  • 25 days holiday
  • Stunning offices

Location

Based in Weybridge, the position is accessible from Surrey locations including Cobham, Kingston, Esher, Chertsey, Leatherhead, Surbiton, Chertsey, and Woking.
