Registered Manager - Children’s Residential Home

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Registered Manager to lead a residential children’s home. You will ensure the safety, wellbeing, and development of children in our care, manage the home effectively, and maintain regulatory compliance. You’ll lead a dedicated team, collaborate with stakeholders, and create a nurturing environment that fosters growth and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and supervise staff, ensuring professionalism and accountability.
  • Oversee daily operations, recruitment, induction, and staff development.
  • Conduct meetings, supervisions, and appraisals to support team growth.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards.
  • Prepare for inspections and address recommendations promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow policies, and conduct risk assessments.

Child-Centered Care:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized care tailored to children’s needs.
  • Develop care plans, promote positive behaviour, and foster emotional growth.
  • Work with social workers, therapists, and educators to ensure comprehensive support.

Safeguarding & Health & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and child protection procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, secure environment and oversee health and safety checks.
  • Manage incidents and emergencies to prioritize children’s welfare.

Financial Management:

  • Operate within budget, manage resources effectively, and maintain records.
  • Prepare financial reports and ensure cost-efficiency.

Partnership & Communication:

  • Build relationships with external agencies, families, and professionals.
  • Maintain open communication with families about children’s progress.
  • Promote the home’s positive reputation within the community.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Experience as a manager in residential childcare.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with children with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed care practices.
  • First aid or mental health first aid training.

Key Skills:

  • Leadership, communication, empathy, and problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills and commitment to quality care.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, permanent position with flexibility for on-call duties and shifts.

Schedule:

8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend availability.
