Senior Data Scientist - Customer Analytics & Engagement

Salt Recruitment is excited to partner with an innovative SaaS organisation in their search for a talented Senior Data Scientist to join their UK-focused team on an initial 6-month contract.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly formed team dedicated to driving the adoption and success of an exciting creative product in the UK market. You'll be based in Shoreditch, London, with a hybrid working arrangement (2 days per week on-site).

About the Role

As the team's most technical hire, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how the business leverages data to enhance customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. This is a hands-on role with a significant opportunity to make an impact, working across analytics, model building, and customer segmentation while influencing cross-team initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Conducting deep dives into data to uncover actionable insights and inform business decisions.
• Designing, executing, and analysing large-scale tests to optimise user engagement and retention.
• Supporting early-stage model building and customer segmentation initiatives.
• Working in a Databricks environment, leveraging tools such as SQL, Python, and GitHub.
• Documenting processes and collaborating effectively across teams, ensuring clarity and progress.
• Providing training and guidance to upskill team members and foster a data-driven culture.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: Mid-Senior level (5+ years) in data science, ideally within SaaS, travel/retail (e.g., Expedia), or mobile gaming industries.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Databricks, SQL or Python, and GitHub is essential.
• Mindset: Pragmatic approach to applying insights and flexible to shifting priorities.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and collaboration abilities, capable of influencing stakeholders and driving initiatives forward.
• Advantageous: Experience with gamification strategies or a background with similar creative products (e.g., Canva) would be highly desirable.
