We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services for an RMN to join the established team within an independent mental health hospital in Blackburn.

The hospital is a 90 bedded hospital with 4 LSU and 2 low secure and recovery wards for male service users only. All patients are detained under the Mental Health Act and their care is NHS funded.

Many of their patients have previously been in high, medium or low security. The team aim to work collaboratively with their patients enabling them to take increasing responsibility for managing their own risks leading to a controlled and graded discharge. Where a patient requires greatest support they offer contextual risk management, enhancing compliance and aim to improve their quality of life. We serve the patient, carers and visitors.

The hospital also has a dedicated and purpose-built ward offering Low Secure Forensic Specialist Older Age service for patients.

This is a full time permanent post and offers a competitive salary of £32,760 - £42,073.20 (dependant on experience) + £5,000 welcome bonus

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), you will be part of an effective Multi-Disciplinary team. You will promote the best interests of the clients and carers and ensure that prescribed nursing care is consistently implemented. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe care environment; exercise professional judgements, accountability and responsibilities; use your professional skills, knowledge and expertise in a changing environment, and work within the scope of professional practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework
  • Assess, plan and deliver with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse
  • Accurately observe and engage with patients to assess their need and evaluate their progress
  • Monitor and review Nursing Care plans
  • Evaluate and respond to changes in patient conditions and needs
  • Deal proactively and effectively with suggestions and complaints from patients and their families/carers
  • Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team
  • Participate in regular clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as requested
  • Prioritise nursing duties and delegate appropriately and effectively within the shift co-ordination framework, working as nurse in charge as required, ensuring as far as reasonable practicable a safe environment
  • Maintain a continued level of personal professional development in accordance to preceptorship and revalidation
  • Develops and maintains a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests, enquiries and suggestions
  • Helps to promote and to maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers
  • Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practise at least monthly
  • Undertake the role of "Preceptor" to newly qualified staff
  • Work in accordance with safeguarding adult and children policies and requirements
  • Ensure the requirements of the Mental Health, Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Standards are met
  • Adhere to Medicines Management policies at all times
  • Adhere to Priory Group policies and protocols and adhere to NMC code
