We are recruiting for Support Workers to provide high-quality support and positive outcomes for young people in the care service including unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people. The ideal candidate would have previous experience working in a similar setting. Our client offers specialist support, care, advice and guidance tailored to each young person's needs to support them in their transition into adulthood and independent living. Please be aware that you must have a full UK Driving Licence to be able to be considered for this role. You will be working locally but at times you will be required to travel throughout Kent.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Support Team Manager, the candidate will be working as part of team of support workers responsible for the below but not limited to:
- Provide support and guidance to young people living independently in their homes.
- Assist in developing young people's independent living skills.
- Promote and encourage positive life choices in such as social activities, budgeting and education.
- Update and ensure progress is made with care plans accordingly.
- To liaise with social services and other professionals in terms of specific and general service delivery, support, accommodation etc, and to respond to any complaints/issues they have in a timely manner.
- Participate in service developments including planning, control, monitoring, review and evaluation activities to ensure continuous improvements in service delivery.
- To ensure that all young people, and staff are treated in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy, and fairly with consideration of their cultural, religious and physical needs.
- To provide on-call assistance as required to staff, social services and management.
- To ensure all safeguarding issues are addressed and signposted in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and liaise with team members to ensure cohesive and compliant delivery of service.
Requirements for the Role
- NVQ Level 3 in Social Care and/or equivalent, or willing to work towards one within a set timeframe.
- Knowledge and understanding of The Children's Act and Children's Social Care system preferred
- Driving Licence
- Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate at all levels
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Must be able to travel across a large geographical portfolio on a daily/weekly basis
