Finance Director - fixed term contract

Reed Finance are pleased to supporting a successful import/export business who are in need of a new Finance Director on a fixed term contract basis – likely for around 9 months.  

The successful candidate will have a track record of delivery in a fast paced environment where leadership, business partnering and relationship building are key factors. You will ideally be adept in achieving the balance between the need to remain focussed on the long term vision while balancing near term priorities.

Reporting into the Managing Director, a few key responsibilities include:

Drive commercial awareness across the business and assist strategic decision making with insightful financial analysis

Full responsibility for financial management across the business - management and group reporting, accounting, forecasting and planning, cash management and, ideally, funding expertise.

Lead and improve the business planning cycle in the business - budgeting, quarterly forecasting etc. Ensure financial planning is fully integrated into business processes

Manage and develop the team, providing leadership, guidance and challenge to drive improvement in both operational performance and engagement.

Manage the audit relationship, deliverables and review of statutory accounts.

Support and work closely with the MD in the strategic decisions and direction of the business as well as the overall monitoring of performance and growth

A few requirements in order to be considered:

You will be a fully qualified accountant with substantial PQE

Commercial mindset with credibility and track record of operating at this level

Proven leadership skills both within and outside of finance, with the ability to be hands on where necessary

Experience within an SME business previously will be helpful

Previous experience working within group operations will be beneficial
