Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical expert in reinsurance pricing for protection business, with a focus on biometric elements.
- Support the team's planning and prioritisation alongside leadership.
- Act as a representative of the team, communicating results to senior management and other departments.
- Deliver accurate and timely work, including quotes and projects, while reviewing and validating team outputs.
- Develop and apply appropriate pricing assumptions, supporting commercial negotiations when necessary.
- Balance commercial goals with risk considerations and articulate financial implications effectively.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across teams and with clients.
- Lead and develop team members by providing feedback, fostering autonomy, and creating growth opportunities.
- Identify and implement process improvements, adopting new technologies where relevant.
- Contribute to assumption development and the creation of innovative propositions.
- Shape team culture and strategy, including non-technical aspects such as people and culture initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and developments in the protection market.
Key Skills & Experience: - Qualified Actuary with substantial experience in life insurance or reinsurance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK protection market.
- Proven leadership or management experience, including mentoring and performance feedback.
- Strong expertise in protection pricing, assumption setting, and experience analysis; reinsurance pricing knowledge is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Proficient in communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Advanced proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word, with familiarity in programming (R, Python, VBA) and Power BI being a plus.
